Brett Turcotte put together an amazing YouTube project with Monster Energy that debuted in November. Turcotte and a crew of filmers––along with photographer Todd Williams—took to Whistler, British Columbia, to document some epic content. “In the spring of ‘24, I called up a few friends and told them about a crazy idea I had,” says Turcotte in an Instagram post late November. “They were all stoked, so we headed to Whistler, BC, to accomplish my goal. With three total days of building in some of the worst conditions possible, the skies cleared for day four. I test hit/filmed a segment in one entire day! Huge thanks to Monster Energy for backing this project. And thanks to my entire crew who had their hands in making this a success! I truly appreciate you all.”

New platform ushers in the future for Cat

By Steve Janes

For hardcore Arctic Cat riders, there’s no doubt the new Catalyst chassis is much different from the Ascender chassis. One was built for the snow; the other was built for the rider.

When the Ascender was first introduced in the 2018 model line, Arctic Cat engineers wanted to design something that could not only go through deep snow, but could accommodate a wide variety of engine packages. Cat had started transitioning from Suzuki engines to their own engine design as well as the Yamaha four-stroke engines and wanted a chassis that could accommodate this transition period.

Lynx Shredder RE
vs Ski-Doo Freeride
Extreme riding in
extreme conditions
By Steve Janes
Although the Lynx Shredder and the Ski-Doo Freeride share many common features in the platform and powertrain, when it comes to the ride and handling, these snowmobiles are as different as any two models on the mountain.

Most high-elevation and terrain riders are very familiar with how the Freeride handles in the mountains. They recognize how the Freeride is a more playful version of the Ski-Doo Summit with a more aggressive suspension. On the other hand, the Shredder RE is in the same class of snowmobiles as the Summit. However, the Shredder’s unique suspension actually makes it more comparable with the Freeride as far as its handling capabilities. That’s why we’re taking these two sleds head-on.

Ski-Doo Summit
Adrenaline Edge
Perfect in-season choice for last-minute shoppers

Although spring is the season to put your money down on the next winter’s snowmobile, not everyone is ready to pull the lever and pick a sled six months before it’s even built. Some are still trying to decide exactly what they want. Some are still in the research stage and just need more time to get confidence that old issues from previous models are fixed, or new features for this year’s models have the bugs worked out. And still others are looking at the economy and waiting to see if there could be any potential disruption in their finances.

Whatever the reason, Ski-Doo has developed the Summit Adrenaline Edge that comes close to having all the best features of the Summit X and Summit Expert, and is available at the dealership in the fall.

The Vast Nord
A dream trip saga
By Naomi Schware – Photos by Linus Nilsson

In the frozen expanse of northern Norway, where the sun barely rises during the long winter months, two old friends embarked on a very special cinematic adventure. When the sun began to emerge in late May, Tomas Berntsson and Sondre Zachariassen, together with a very handy crew, set out to ride snowmobiles in a place they never thought possible to ride for the Vast Nord documentary film. The goal was to explore Seiland, a remote and rugged region beyond the Arctic Circle, where few have thought to venture on a sled. With their bond forged in their love for snowmobiling, countless shared adventures, and many laughs along the way, they knew this journey would be their most epic yet.

The film opens with epic footage showing the vast, rugged and unforgiving landscape of this remote place. It’s so clear that this terrain is protected from mankind and preserved for the wild. With uplifting music an epic crescendo into the intro…it’s damn hard to click away.

Polaris improves the Rr, boost running boards

Several years back, when the model year 2022 snowmobiles were being assembled, the 2023 snowmobile design had been approved and the 2024 snowmobile to-do list had begun the process of being finalized, Polaris engineers sat back and looked ahead to 2025.

The question was asked: What’s the next step in making a better snowmobile?

Immediate response: Anything that’s lighter is always going to be better.

Product Review

Often the best ideas are born out of necessity. Kyle Bundy and his Charged Up Helmet Holder with USB charging ports can attest to that.

“This all started with my wife giving me a hard time after a ride about my helmet and comm system/GoPro being in the kitchen on the bar where we had plugs to charge,” recalls the inventor. “She kept telling me to take it all out to the garage, but there were times when I would grab my helmet to go for a ride and discover the battery for my comms were dead because I forgot to charge it.”
